    This course is designed for all persons who work and play in hot environments, for example: firefighters, roofers, steel mill workers, construction workers, road crews, etc. and for those who just enjoy the hot sun in the summertime.

    The outcome of the course should be a better understanding of the effects of heat and how to ensure you do not succumb to heat stress disorders, such as, heat exhaustion, heat rashes, heat cramps and heat stroke.

    Heat Stress Training

    Heat Stress Awareness – Our course consists of 3 sessions.

    Employers have a duty under clause 25(2)(h) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act to take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker.

    This includes developing policies and procedures to protect workers in environments that are hot because of hot processes and/or weather.

    Heat Stress Safety Training is a part of this.

    Your employer has a legal responsibility to protect you from heat, but you must be responsible to yourself by ensuring you do what is required to stay safe. This includes heat illness prevention training.

    The course duration is approximately 45 minutes.

    Course Details

    Session 1

    Session 1 explains what Heat Stress is and the factors that can induce heat stress illness. To understand the effects of heat stress, you need to know how your body handles heat.

    Session 3

    Session 3 covers Preventing and Controlling Heat Stress. This is also showing heat illness prevention training.

    Session 2

    Session 2 covers Recognizing and Treating Heat Stress. Personal, Environmental and Job or work factors are covered. Heat illness prevention training is also a part of this section.

    Heat stress illness can be several disorders. These are also covered.
